In my opinion, Christmas is a happy festival; we sing Galician songs every night. The best time is Christmas Eve, all the family have dinner together and then we launch the firecrackers we talk until everybody goes to bed.

I love this time of the year because I am with my family,who I haven't seen for months, and it is the season of the gifts.These dates are to spend with the family . Part of my my family comes from Uruguay ,we go to my grandmother's to take the gifts that they left us there.
We also visit my grandmother from Ponteareas to celebrate New Year's Eve. I always have a great time when I am at my grandmother's because my brother and I usually win some prizes; besides, it's my dad's birthday. Well this is what I do at Christmas , I hope you'll have a very good time too.

Christmas is a very important time for me. My whole family meet only on those dates and we have a good time.I am very happy at Christmas.
My favourite celebration is the Three Wise Men night and  Christmas Eve, when Santa Claus arrives, because I give presents to the members of the family and they give presents to me.
My sister Lara and my cousin Sabela enjoy these celebrations.
Finally, I like celebrating the end of the year.
I eat twelve grapes and I always choke. When the strokes finish I drink champagne and lemon sherbet.
Then, I wish  my family a happy new year.
This night is very exciting.

In Christmas,most  people are happy because they can be with their family if they are out of the country, but for young people,there are other two reasons to be happy.
Kids are happy because they are going to get presents (mostly toys).
Young people don't have to go to school and they can relax and be with their friends.
lChristmas is not a happy time only for teenagers and kids,  adults can also relax because they don't have to work, and they can be in family. On Christmas Eve, all the family have dinner together and they can talk and laugh, and eat special food that they normally don't eat, like shellfish or turkey. In Spain, this food is really scarce to get  and eat on an ordinary day.

Hello everybody!
Christmas is the best time of year in my opinion, because I meet all the family, I receive presents from everybody and these days are happy days. On Christmas Eve all the family meet and talk about anecdotes that occurred a long time ago. We meet at my grandmother's house, where we eat seafood and meat and some fish, but not too much. We also eat all kinds of desserts, cakes, chocolate cakes ... Before all that, the men of the family go for a walk around the house while the women and the children make dinner. After the typical meal my parents and I go home and there, they give me my presents, the best time of all night! In conclusion, I think that Christmas is a time to meet the family; it is go cold and the people spend lots of money, but it's the best week in the year! Merry Christmas Elvira!

Christmas begins!

I love staying up late and look at the lights in the streets at Christmas, the streets are very pretty.

At this season we can be relaxed, and stay with our family and friends.
At Christmas Eve I stay with my family, we dinner at my uncle‘s house, my uncle makes special food.Then, my dad disguises himsel a Santa Claus and he gives us the presents. I love seeing my little cousin's face when he looks at Santa. He always says: always comes Santa comes, but the three wise men never come.

At the end of the year, I have dinner with my family at my grandfather’s house. We eat the twelve grapes, and afterwards we look at the fireworks.

At Christmas most people are very happy but poor people aren’t happy at this time. First, it’s winter, so it’s cold and they live in the street or in ruined houses. They see people having dinner with their families, giving presents, adorning their houses and spending a lot of money; while they try hard to obtain money to eat. We should think that while we are very happy, there are other people that aren’t having a good time. The best present for those people is a family and a home.

Conclusion: If Santa Claus exists, why poor people don’t get their presents?

I like very much Christmas!

Christmas is my favourite season, at Christmas eve, my maternal family gather, it's very funny. After dinner, my sister is always very impatient to know if Santa Claus the has left presents under the christmas tree.
In New Year's Eve, my paternal family gather, all my family eat the grapes, but I don't eat them because I hate them.
I also like Christmas because the streets are very decorated and because of the family dinners.

At Christmas my family meet for dinner. This year I have to disguise myself as Santa Claus because my nephew is very little and he believes in Christmas. I don’t like Christmas, the weather is very cold and you can only see ads on. We don’t have Christmas tree this year, my family don’t like Christmas. I would like to travel to the Caribbean with them and go to the beach in holydays.

But not everything is bad. I like the rain and the presents, my nephews are very funny and I like being with my brothers.

At Christmas Eve we throw a great party with a lot of music, food, karaoke and dance.

The little people of the house wait impatiently for Santa Claus and his presents. It's a great night, but the greatest party is in New Year´s Eve. At twelve o´clock p.m. we eat twelve grapes, but I never eat all the grapes. After the grapes We go to the street, in the street we throw firecrackers for an hour. Later, we dance "sevillanas" for hours, when we are tired we take the karaoke and we sing all night.

It´s the best date of the year.

Christmas is the time of the year that I like most.

We all gather together at Christmas; my whole family in my grandmother's

At the end of the year we are all together again but in my house,

Christmas is a winter season. Families usually meet and spend Christmas together, they prepare dinners, family meals, etc. Here, in Spain, the typical Christmas dinner is sea food, some kind of meat as turkey or beef. Moreover, there are typical sweets on these dates such as “turron” or “polvorones”. If Christmas is important to the kids, they are looking forward to the visit of the Three Wise Men and Father Christmas. From my point of view, Christmas is a wonderful date. You can have a great time with your family and there are big parties in “New Year's Eve” or on January 6th.;on the other hand, the weather is the main disadvantage,it is too cold.

I´m very happy when I know Christmas is coming. I don´t hate the cold, but it is too cold in this month.

I spend Christmas with my family, mostly with my cousins, but I meet my friends too, although I don´t go out in New Year's Eve.

The best of this holiday is that I can relax a lot, I get up late, I go shopping for presents and I have a good time! :)

The worst... there isn´t a bad thing! Well... there is a bad thing. It doesn´t snow here!

Christmas holidays are the longest of the year and I like them because I get gifts.

I think Christmas is a very good time to spend our days with our families and friends but... you have to spend a lot of money on presents or dinners. Giving presents can also cause some problems, because sometimes we can be worried about if this present is good enough for the person that receives it and you wonder wheher he/she is going to like it.
In Christmas children are very happy because they can enjoy new toys and video games. Some parents also give them a personal computer, even if the child is only a few years old. I think it isn't very good for this child, but... they are their parents, and they should know that they do, shouldn't they?

I'm sure that this Christmas is going to be very special! But... Why? It is a secret :P

Last Christmas was very funny but a bit sad. It was funny because I had
many presents, we were in family and the food was good but...
My cousin Federico ,who was 10 years old , was ill.
He is allergic to shellfish,so he got a skin rash and stomach ache.
We went to hospital (we took him to hospital),the doctor gave him antibiotics and told him to go home and go to bed.
In New Year's Eve I was unhappy because my parents didn't allow me to go out at night and meet my friends.
I liked last Christmas,It was very interesting.

I love Christmas.
Christmas is my favourite season ...
In Christmas Eve, all my paternal family gather and we prepare a special dinner; seafood and chicken, then we eat chocolates and cake for dessert.
I play table football with my brother, my cousins, my parents and my uncles and my aunts.
We stay at my uncle's house till my little cousins are tired and then my parents, my brother and I go back home.
When we arrive home... Oh! there are presents under the Christmas tree! My brother and I open the presents and when we go to bed very late.

I really love Christmas but it is becoming more and more sad each year, because we miss people who isn't with us anymore.
This year I miss my grandma and I miss my cousin, but I hope this Christmas will be very happy for my family.

I want Santa Claus to bring me many things because this year I 've been very very good =)

Teenage stress

In recent times the stress on adolescents is very common due to their parents' demands. Nowadays teenagers  get up too early to go to school, so they make a mental effort. Taking tests is considered  the leading cause of stress.Besides, 75% of teenagers practise a sport 3 times a week and this is a phisical effort.And all this and the typical problems of teenagers, with parents, friends, etc ... cause a great stress on them.

Stress in teenagers is becoming more and more usual each day. If we compare our lives with our parents' lives we can see that we are more stressed than they were. The causes of it may be the absence of freetime, because we have got a lot of exams, activities, sports, and a lot of things to do.

We don´t have time to relax, but there is some advice to relax, for example, I usually go to the gym, listen to music, read books, and stay with my friends, things like those ones make me relax and be free of stress. This is the stress from my point of view.

I think teenage stress is provoked by many reasons of all kind. Many teenagers suffer stress due to arguments with their parents,or because they have to move to another place, or take tests,because of fights with friends, lack of sleep, etc. This are the reasons why they are stressed and tired.
In my case, I haven´t a stressful life. I´m usually stressed when I have a lot of exams to take or when my parents don´t leave me alone. I think I have to take it easy.

I'm going to tell you about my stressful life.
In exams time the pressure to get good marks is enormous. The football team, the friends, the girlfriends, the parents' relationships... All contribute to the stress. For example, last  Saturday I couldn´t go out with my friends because I hadn't money. The parents are another example. Our relationships with them aren't good because they don't understand us. Another  cause of stress is the change to another school , but it isn´t my case. I have had friends since the first day I arrived here and I am very happy. But the pressure of the exams , the friends,  and a lot more… Being worried is  a  very important factor to generate stress, If you are not worried , you don´t have stress and now, I´m an example. I don´t have stress and I am very happy. This is my stressful life!

In my opinion teenagers have stress due to many reasons, but I include the exams; when we have too much work or exams to do we get really stressed. Other causes are:
when my parents have arguments, and then they argue with me.
Some problems with friends, we argue, and we have problems with a boyfriend.
Teenagers don't sleep all they need, because we watch TV series and then we go to bed later.

There are many causes of stress, but I think we, teenagers  get stressed very easily, because we have uncontrolled hormones.


I think that the most important cause for stress are the exams and the parents.

I think that teenagers have stressful lives because of many reasons:

First, the tests. This is probably the most important reason because teenagers have to study a lot and they must spend all their time  studying and they can´t do other things.

Another reason are the school changes. If you need to change to another school you have to make new friends and this is difficult for some teenagers.

Then, the parents' problems. If their parents have problems they can cause stress on a teenager.

Finally the teachers. If a teacher doesn't like you, you can be in trouble.

In my opinion, teenagers should take it easy and live their own life.

What we do in our free time  is an important cause, because of the amount of extracurricular activities we have. Some parents want their children to do many activities, and this is is stressful for teenagers.

Hormonal changes during adolescence are also an important factor.

The physical appearance, the clothes, the hair, the "to be always perfect" and that others admire us, cause stress in teenagers.

Parents having problems, not having enough money, fight with a friend or with a boyfriend... are other reasons for stress.

Pueblo Inglés in La Alberca 2008

helloo!! How are you?

Well I haven't written anything this summer, but now I am writing ... haha

Well, I'm going to talk about a wonderful experience I lived this summer

First I went to Salou!! with the people of 4º ESO, and it was so so so so... cool and funny

But then, two days after I arrived in porriño I went to Salamanca.

Tere I lived this cool experience.

I went to a programme called PuebloInglés.

About 40 Spanish people and 40 Anglo speakers went to a small town called La Alberca, there we stayed speaking in English for one week with English, Americans, Australians...

You cannot speak in Spanish, you must speak English all the time, becouse if you speak Spanish the "anglos" cannot understand you.

Well here, there were mm... I don't know... 6 teams or 7... I don't remember..

But there were teams, and you could win points to your team, or lose points (if you speak in Spanish you lose points). And at the end of this week, the team who has more points wins, but... haha

in my week, my team won (we were the black team), and we only got a bag of candy haha

But there was so funny

And the place where you stay for this week is a 5 star hotel, but it is not a normal hotel, There were many houses in a beautiful place, like a small town, and it was so beautiful

Only four people could stay in each house, there were two big rooms, you shared a room with an anglo-speaker.

I went to La Alberca becouse it is in Salamanca, but I think there is the same programme in other places.

Ahh!! And if you want to go, you should know that this programme is only for people from 13 to 17 years old.

I will go next year again because it is so funny and you meet people from New York, Ireland, Australia, and you meet Spanish people too haha

That was great I recommend it. But the bad side is the prize.. I dont know exactly but I think 1300 € for person... haha

Graffiti!!!!

In my opinion, graffiti are urban art.

Painting good graffiti is hard work,you can paint a wall and what´s more, you can decorate it, but graffiti that are just a signature are not interesting for people, and they ruin a public places. I think that graffiti are ok but in places where there aren't a lot of people so that they will not bother anyone.
Graffiti is not accepted by some people, but it is urban culture that has to be preserved.

The drawings are very interesting. Graffiti is art but it is sometimes vandalism when you do it in the wrong place.I have never painted graffiti because I don't like drawing .

Graffiti: Art or vandalism?

Hiii everybody!!!!
I think that graffiti is street art; people that paint graffiti are people that need to express their feelings about society, politics or they just paint graffiti as a hobby.But some graffiti are too bad and sometimes they insult people or are racist. I hate them.
In some cities graffiti are prohibited because they are consideratedvandalism, but in other cities graffiti are permitted, because they are street art!!!

I think graffiti is a way for an artist to express his/her feelings and to brighten up a wall. Many times it´s just to decorate, but when they are very well made you can feel the artist´s feelings.
It´s true that many times graffiti is made for the artist to look cool or to paint an illegal wall, and I think it´s for people like those that graffiti is illegal.

I think that graffiti is street art that very few people master ... because not everybody can paint ..!!
What I don't like is that whereever you go you always see painted walls .. and they aren't drawings they are just stripes .. or circles that don't mean anything but spoil the fronts of many houses...

Which idea do you prefer?

I like graffiti in general, but I prefer those with coulours and drawings. Although some graffiti are ugly and boring, I think they're a beautiful art and an occupation, too.

People that paint them, need to be creative, imaginative and realist, because if they aren't , their paintings will be a complete load of rubbish..jajaja

I would like to paint them, but I'm not very creative.. xD

Graffiti!

In my opinion graffiti is a beautiful way of expressing oneself. It is is not only a way of decorating old walls, of showing your designs, but it's also a way of saying what you think, of showing your ideals and showing these things that you can't say with words. For many people it is a form of life!
Some graffiti is considered 'vandalism ', as the graffiti in the trains, the 'signatures' ('tags') on the doors and blinds; besides, some ways of painting graffiti are also dangerous for the 'graffiti artist', like the ' gettin up ':

DECORATE OUR BODY

I think that decorating our body is fantastic! It is a nice way of being different from the others, it is like a 'sign' of our identity. Some ways of decorating our body are not accepted by the rest of the society, as the rastas, that are associated with the lack of hygiene(dirty people), or the big tattooes, that are associated with 'freak' people.But in my opinion, each one is the owner of his/her body and can do with it what he/she wants if heshe is going to feel better with his/her body.
The well known forms of decorating our body are piercings, tattooes, modern clothes or complements and makeup.But a less known form and my favorite is bodypaint: with a naked body(nude), a bit of paint, a showy hair and an original idea real works of art can be done!
