My Origins

My name is Pedro and I'm going to talk a bit about my family.

My grandparents were born in Naples, in Italy. When they were 40, they moved to Rome because my grandfather found a job as a baker there.

My father was born in Rome, but he emigrated to Spain 15 years ago because in Italy he didn't find a job. There he met my mother, and he married to her.

I would like to live in Italy, because I have family there and I think it's a great country!

My name is Xabier, I'm from Spain, I am going to talk about my family, my mother is from north America, but his father was from Ireland, he came after the Second World War. About my father I can tell you is northern Germany, is a very typical German

When he found Jamie,he told him he has a big trouble, he couldn´t find his sister Emma, and he was worried. They went to look for her all along the city, they went to places she used to go, but they couldn´t find her. That day, Emma told their that,she would go to the supermarket and then to home,. they went to the supermarket but when they discribed her and asked for her to the assistent, he said “Emma has gone crossing the back door”. They went out, they looked for her along the street and around, but nothing…They couldn´t find her.
They sit down in the first seat they could worried and started talking with no idea what they shoud do,but in this moment, jamie looked her bycicle at the end of the street and went harry up. There was Emma, with a boy, in the park.
Jamie went by her, angry, getting ready to shout. When he arrive next to her, he hugged her, and for him doesn´t matter the bad time that they have passed,she was well.

My mobile has disappeared

When I came home to my surprise, my mobile had disappeared, I didn't know what to do. I spent an hour looking for, it didn't appear. I decided to call but it was silent and I could not listen to it. The other day, I read in the newspaper that they had stolen it from me.

A SURPRISED PARTY!!!

when I came to my house, my friends surprised me with a party for my birthday. It was very moving.
When I had blown the candles, my friends gave me presents. Then we went to a Pub to continue the party.
It was really funny! In the morning I came home, and I went to my bed.
I was tired, I didn't sleep very well.

No!! My car!!

When I went out my house. I was really surprised. My car was disapeared! I called inmediatly at the police and when they arrived they told me that my car wasn´t the first.

A group of thiefs had already stealed three cars, but the police had founded something strange. The thiefs had arrived more or less at 3 o´clock in the morning, and they had drunk some bottles of whisky, later, at 4 o´clock they had broken a window of the car and they get in to the car. Although the thiefs were very drunken, they had done a bridge and here, the scent was lost.

But when I was very down, the police had founded my car. However, it wasn´t  in perfect state . The thiefs had burnt my car.

my 16 birthday

When I had gone to my house yesterday, I found everything very quiet and dark and

was somewhat suspicious because in
my house they always have their lights on . I go to open the door when the dog started barking and at those moments had been heard some voices inside the house and I was scared to see all that had happened. Suddenly the lights were lit and they were my friends and family that I had prepared a surprise party for my 16 birthday.

A PRESENT

It was Thursday, when I got up and in my bedroom it was a strange package, it was green and very big. Someone has been there. I had curiosity for seeinf what was, I decided to open and i was what was. Inside there was a computer. I was impressed and I thought that the present was for me.When my mum arrived she anger with me because the present was for a friend. She had left it in my room. The following day my mother left me a present for me.

My english teacher hates me!!

On Mondays, at breaktime, I left my bag in my class, as usual.

When I returned someone had opened the bag and had stolen my English book.

I asked the people in my class if they had seen something but nobody knew anything,but after thinking and thinking I remenbered my english teacher hates me.

She had stolen my english book but I could´t study for the exam.

Finally I passed the exam and she was crying.

Ha, ha ...It is a joke !!!

A surprise party!

When I got home yesterday I found that there was nobody in the living-room. My parents had disappeared. When I got into the kitchen my parents had prepared a surprise party for me.

Then, I went to my bedroom and I found a present in the bed that it had been put by my parents. They has hiden it under the pillow.

When I opened the gift, I discovered why they had gone to the shopping center yesterday.

¡OH! ¡My hair!

When I woke up yesterday morning and I looked in the mirror I almost died!
My brother had been in my room at night, while I was sleeping.

When I was in front of the mirror and I looked my hair cut, I knew that my brother had done something at night.

He had been cut my hair!!! He had been planning this revenge for a long time because once I did something similar to it.

He had been running all morning and when he came home he was very tired. After lunch he slept a nap. While he was sleeping I went in his room and tied his hands and legs. When he woke up, he felt! So I knew he had been planning this revenge for me.



But I think revenge again... hahahahahaha

John Cyril Cranko (15 August 1927 – 26 June 1973)

He was a choreographer with the Sadler's Wells Ballet (which later became the Royal Ballet) and the Stuttgart Ballet.
Cranko was born in Rustenburg in the former province of Transvaal, South Africa. As a child, he would put on puppet shows as a creative outlet. Cranko received his early ballet training in Cape Town under the leading South African ballet teacher and director, Dulcie Howes, of the University of Cape Town Ballet School. He then moved to London.
Following the expiration of the copyright on Arthur Sullivan's music in 1950, John Cranko choreographed the comic ballet Pineapple Poll, in collaboration with Sir Charles Mackerras, for a British Festival. Pineapple Poll was based on W. S. Gilbert's Bab Ballad The Bumboat Woman's Story, with music exclusively by Sir Arthur Sullivan including music from various Gilbert and Sullivan operettas. His father, Herbert, a balletomane, spent a great deal of time with him in London.
John Cranko wrote and developed a musical revue Cranks, which opened in London in December 1955, moved to a West End theatre the following March, and ran for over 220 performances. With music by John Addison, its cast of four featured singers Anthony Newley, Annie Ross, Hugh Bryant and dancer Gilbert Vernon then transferred to New York. An original cast CD has recently been released. Cranko followed the format of Cranks with a new revue New Cranks opening at the Lyric Theatre Hammersmith on 26 April 1960 with music by David Lee and a stellar cast including Gillian Lynne, Carole Shelley and Bernard Cribbins, but it failed to have the same impact.
Cranko also choreographed the ballet Onegin, an adaptation of the verse novel Eugene Onegin by Alexander Pushkin set to music by Tchaikovsky (mainly The Seasons) orchestrated by Kurt-Heinz Stolze. Other full length ballets he choreographed are Romeo and Juliet, set to music by Prokofiev and The Taming of the Shrew.
Cranko choked to death after suffering an allergic reaction to a sleeping pill he took during a transatlantic flight. His mother, Grace, who was divorced from Herbert and lived in what was then Rhodesia, heard about his death from a radio broadcast. The ballet Voluntaries by Glen Tetley was created in the memory of John Cranko.

In my opinion, dancing has always been a feminine activity, but today things are changing.
Now it isn’t seen as bad as before, it was always related with women,and dancers who were men weren't well seen.
These things don't only happen with dancing, they are important in working life too, there are typically feminine jobs, like nurse. A few years ago only women were nurses. Formerly ideas were very chauvinist.
Nowadays things have improved a lot and lots of women have got jobs that only men could have years ago. But I think things have to change even more and I hope one day things will be much better for everybody.

...ONLY DANCE...

When I was five or six years old I played handball before I started to dance,but I felt uncomfortable and I decided to leave it.During this time I didn´t practise any sport.

I found my inner Billy Eliot when I was eight years old.My neighbour invited me to dance with her.I accept, but I was very shy.

In the first class I was very nervious and the teacher tried to relax me,she got it.In the second class I discovered that I could free my body and disconnect my mind from the exterior world.

In the third year I continued dancing. My friend knew that I danced and since that moment I felt discriminate.My friends ask me: "but is this a sport for men?"and I answered them:"I do it".They didn´t accept my decision.These comentaries weren´t an obstacle for me,I continued dancing.

The dancer´s world is difficult, because you have to put up with insults and sometimes you don´t have your family´s support. My parents supported me from the first moment.

Dancing was quite difficult for my parents bacause it´s expensive.I thought if I could save some money I would probably pay my dancing lessons.At the moment if I want to enjoy it I have to pay my technic lessons.

I want to increasing my dance, and learn "street dance and funky"!!.

MIGUEL ANGEL ZOTTO

He grew up listening to Tangos with his grandfather,who was a dancer and with his father who was a dancer and an actor.

Miguel Ángel Zotto started dancing Tango in April 1986 in a show called "Tango Argentino".In 1998 he created the company "Tango For Two".

In 1991 M iguel Angel Zotto and Milena Plebs are invited to the opera in Houston to the choreography of Tango-opera.

In 1997 they shoned "a night of Tango"

In 2000 Miguel Angel Zotto had a new show "Zx2,Tango sinfónico".He was chosen the best dancer in the 20th century.

He was done a lot of wonderful choreografies: "Tiempos de la Cruz del Sur","Zx2","Tango of Two",etc.

WOMEN

Today women are in a good situation, in general. Some years ago it was different because many women were always at home and they couldn't have a job and earn a lot of money. Today there are some women who have an important job and they also have much power, but discrimination still exists.

I would like to be a hairdresser and I think I will not have problems for that;but if I wanted to be a lorry driver it would be different.

I'd like you to see this photo of Brigitte Bardot, the famous French actress and the first woman who wore a bikini. What a scandal at her time!

Gipsy

In the Gipsy culture women must follow some absurd rules...

When they are single they can't have sexual relations because they must wait until they get married. They can't cut their hair and they can't go out either.

When a Gipsy woman gets married she has to undergo the "handkerchief testing". In my opinion, this is absolutely appalling and typical of thugs!

A married woman has to live with her husband's family;she has to do all the household chores and she can't give her opinion.

At Christmas or any other celebrations, women can't visit their families, so they have to stay with their husbands' families. Men are the bosses here.

The strange thing about all this is that women are sometimes more machist than men, mainly because their parents teach them that men are better than women since they are children, so they are born blind ! This is an absurd attitude, a male, chauvinist attitude.

But I don't agree..

I'm determined to break these rules; I'm going to show them that a woman can always manage to achieve what she wants.

Rudolf Xämät ulı Nuriev (Nureyev) (1938 March the 17th- 1993 January the 6^th)

He was born in Russia, on a train, near Irkutsk. He was a classical dancer, for many, the best dancer of the XX^th century, and probably the best dancer who has never existed.

He began his studies in 1955 at the Vaganova Choreographic Institute. He was the most talented dancer the school had seen in many years.

He was bad tempered because he had personal problems regarding their own sexuality.

Two years later, Nureyev was one of the most famous Russian dancers.

In 1961 his life changed. The principal dancer of Kirov, Konstantin Sergeyev had an accident and Nureyev was chosen to replace him in Paris. His performance impressed the audience and critics. He never returned to Russia.

Nureyev became an instant celebrity in the West.

During a tour of Denmark he met Erik Bruhn, a dancer ten years older than him, who became his lover, his best friend and his protector for many years.

His talent and charm were not enough to be always forgiven, because fame did not improve his temper. It was impulsive, temperamental and rude to work with.

He contracted HIV during the early 1980s. For years he had denied these health problems and refused any treatment.

In his last appearance in 1992 in the Palais Garnier of Paris, Nureyev received an emotional ovation from the audience.

He died months later at the age of 54 years.

She has become a pretty famous singer since she participated in ‘’United Kingdom FactorX’’. She has always wanted to be a singer, and when she was 12 she wrote her own songs and became vegetarian too( She’s 23 now). She was born in London and her mother’s from UK, but her father is Guyanese (This country is in South America, in the north of Brazil). So, she’s mixed race.

She sings ‘’Bleeding Love’’ (Her most famous song; it was nº1 in Europe) and ‘A moment like this’ (With this lovely song, she has gotten a world record; it was downloaded 50,000 times in just the first 30 minutes!).

And before becoming a well-known singer, she worked as secretary in an office and she also participated in lots of different Talent TV Programmes. And one day she decided to go to FactorX, the latest TV Programme and the most important in her career. So, she became popular there.

Martin Sheen

Martin Sheen is an American actor. He is very famous because he worked in the film "Apocalypse Now" and he also worked in "The West Wind" (in Spanish: El ala oeste de la casa blanca), an American serial drama.
His original name is Ramón Gerardo Antonio Estévez (a very long name!). His father, Franciso Estévez, is from Spain (his father was born in Salceda de Caselas!!) and his mother, May Anne Phelan, was born in Ireland. He was the seventh of ten children that his parents had. His stage name is in honour of the bishop of New York, Fulton John Sheen.
He is Emilio Estévez's, a director and scriptwriter, father and he is also Charlie Sheen's father, another famous actor.

I think the Internet is very useful and entertaining. I use it every day.
On the Internet, I usually chat to my friends by MSN or in forums. It's very funny to meet new people from other countries, and I can practice my English chatting to my cousins. They are British so I can learn a lot of English if I speak to them. I also download a lot of music and films, but it is illegal, isn't it? Now, my parents forbid me use the MSN and go to forums, so I use the Internet to play on-line games, watch videos on youtube and write something in my blog.
But on the Internet, I can search information about all things that I want, too, and the Internet can help me if I don't know a word in English because there are lots of dictionaries. Internet is very useful for school.
